South of Aswan city the granite quarries and over their lies the unfinished obelisk ,which give us idea how the Egyptian workers cut the obelisk .
This obelisk situated in the northern part of the quarries ,this single piece of granite was intended to be an obelisk and is generally attributed to Queen Hatshepsut ,being very similar to her one in Karnak temple in Luxor .The bottom part of the obelisk is still attached to the bedrock.The unfinished obelisk offers unusual insights into ancient Egyptians stone-working techniques ,with marks from workers ,tools still clearly visible as well as ocher-colored lines making where they were working..Click edit button to change this text.
